The best of Northern Thailand
The old Lanna kingdom is a mixture of Pagodas, temples, colour and natural wonders, and the joys of meeting a wonderful people.
Northern Thailand and 8 day adventure. Including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Pai in one amazing trip.
This trip is all about exploring the wonderful Pagodas and temples of Lana kingdom of Northern Thailand. We get to chill out in the hills around Pai, explore the night markets in Chiang Mai, visit the 'White" "Blue" and "Black" temples of Chiang Rai, all whilst sampling some great Thai food in our favorite restaurants. . Chiang Mai (3 nights) We start in Chiang Mai a delightful city with good flight connections and an ideal place to start and finish our trip. I have found some exceptional restaurants, the best places to enjoy an evening beer, and some superb massage spas to indulge and relax in during the hot afternoons. Chiang Mai has some fun, quirky Gay bars, and it’s nice to have some venues where we get to meet the locals, watch some shows, and enjoy evening time and each other’s company. This is also a wonderful city to walk around, the old city has literally hundreds of temples and I will take you to see the very best of them. Pai (2 nights) Today we head up into the hills, the countryside is quite beautiful and the road windy as we head to Pai (3 hr) in our private minivan. Pai is a backpacker hangout of note, you will feel like your back in the 60,s the countryside is beautiful and we stay in lovely accomodation right on the river, with time to explore the area and lap up the chill vibe in the evenings along "walking street" Chiang Rai in Thailand (2 night) After Pai backtrack down the mountain and on to Chiang Rai, stopping for lunch on the way (6hr) with time to chill out this evening after a long travel day. Here we will be visiting the famed ''White'' and ''Blue'' pagodas and the artistic delight of the "Black house". as well time permitting a trip to see the famous Mae Fah Gardens. Finish After breakfast there is a choice, either fly out of Chiang Rai airport back to Bangkok and onward, or return with us back to Chiang Mai (3.30hr) to fly out from there. Or extend your stay! If you have longer, then I really recommend adding a beach resort to the end of your trip, or adding a stopover in somewhere like Singapore on the way home. There are direct flights from Chiang Mai to many of Thailand best beach spots, including Krabi, Phuket, Koh Samui, and Pattaya. ADDON "The wonders of Angkor Wat" Some of the guys on the Norther Thailand trip would like to extend and discover Cambodia's great temple complex, rather than hit a beach resort. A 5 day trip is planned, just let me know if anyone else has any interest in joining us. Accommodation is a highlight of this trip and I have chosen some lovely properties located in the heart of where we want to be, so expect to be able to walk out of the hotel and be in the middle of the action. All are of 3-4 star quality and have been chosen for their location and ambiance. All have en-suite bathrooms, aircon and a swimming pool. As with all our trips let go of the concept you're signing up for a structured tour, you're not, you're joining us on a Thailand and Laos adventure , yes it’s a semi structured adventure with all the hard work done, but it is nevertheless an adventure. Things will go wrong some days, and changes will need to be taken in their stride, you will need your wits about you, and to expect to do some exploring on your own occasionally. |
