India "Forts & Palaces"

Our 14-day trip around the wonders of Rajasthan.
Rajasthan
Forts and Palaces of Rajasthan – India 2026

India! there really is no where on the planet quite like it, you cannot help but be astonished. Fabulous wealth, and grinding poverty, sit side by side, your emotions will be all over the place. The country is also vast, you could spend a lifetime visiting and never see it all. On this trip we get to explore just a small part, but one rich in "Forts and Palaces" and amazing history.
India is so full-on that for me its essential to have a comfortable place to retreat to in the evening, freshen up, and enjoy an evening meal, and we have chosen hotels for you to do just that in.
This is not a 5* luxury hotel trip, (5* trips are available in India at a hefty price tag) its a comfortable 3-4* hand picked hotel adventure. Also with our own private air conditioned vehicle, we can cover the distances between cities in relative comfort, escaping the heat of the midday. On this trip we will have a  Pan India guide with us the whole time along with a driver, helper and Richard all there to make the trip run as smoothly as possible.
So take the plunge and dive into the sensory overload which is India.

Day 1-2 Delhi
India's capital, Delhi, is a hub for politics, business, and culture. It is busy and chaotic, but always retains its charm. Historical sites, museums, religious places, and markets make this the perfect place to begin our travels in India.
Many airlines fly into the capital, and we will meet you at the airport and accompany you to our arrival hotel.
Our sightseeing in this charming city includes a guided tour to some of Delhi’s exciting attractions such as Old Delhi, Kutub Minar and driving past India Gate and President’s House. If you wish to see more in your free time you can explore Humayun’s Tomb, The National Museum, or even discover the modern side of Delhi.

Day 3 Agra
We will travel by train to Agra with a small hand luggage (2-3 hours) while our main luggage will be carried by our tour bus, Agra is a place of romance and beautiful architecture. We will have a guided tour of historical Agra Fort where you can admire the exquisite architecture of the Mughal Empire. Then visit the Taj Mahal, the symbol of love built by the Mughal King Shahjahan for his loving wife Mumtaj.

Day 4-5 Jaipur
Travel to Jaipur (6-7 hours) and on the way we stop at Abhaneri to see one of the oldest and largest stepwell ever built in India.
Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. Named the 'Pink City' after the colorful hues of its buildings was the first planned city of India and is world famous for its beautiful architecture.
We take a walking tour through its narrow lanes and explore the colorful bazaars, sip a cup of Masala chai in a street shop, and pass through the 'Palace of Winds', Hawa Mahal, a five-story old building with hundreds of windows. Visit the striking Amber Fort outside the city and admire the Jantar Mantar observatory which is a fascinating World Heritage site. If you are interested and up to it we can visit the fascinating City Palace Museum, and explore the local markets which provide plenty of opportunities for souvenir shopping.
Tonight, we have an option to enjoy a small cooking demo and home cooked dinner with a local family of Jaipur.

Day 6-7 Bundi
Bundi has an old history of Ruling tribes continued by Hada Rajput Warriors. Drive through the rural roads of Rajasthan to reach the city of step wells and explore the local markets. A guided tour will introduce us to the stunning murals of Bundi Palace and the history of step wells. You will have an opportunity of going on a village tour and exploring the gorgeous nature and rural life of Bundi.

Day 8 Pushkar
Early morning drive to Pushkar (6 hours).
Visit the Ancient Brahma temple and the holy lake. Pass the time exploring the colorful markets, watching the pilgrims at the Ghats, and relishing the delicious sweets in local sweet shops.

Day 9- 10 Jodhpur
Today we continue onto Jodhpur (5-6 hours), which is in the western part of Rajasthan. The city is dominated by spectacular Mehrangarh Fort and is also known as the 'Blue City', in reference to the many painted houses in the old city. Visit the fort and get introduced to the rich history of Rathore kings and have an amazing view of the old city. Free time gives us the chance to explore the bustling old bazaars full of spice shops, textiles, fruits and vegetables and going for a village tour.

Day 11 -13 Udaipur
Journey to Udaipur (6-7 hours) via Ranakpur Jain Temples. Travel through the stunning countryside and experience the remarkable history of Mewar. This beautiful place is surrounded by many lakes and the mysterious Aravali Mountain range. This is a truly charismatic city and is declared by many to be the most romantic city in India.
There is plenty to see in Udaipur. We visit the fascinating city palace, enjoy the culture programme at Bagore Ki Haveli, and join the locals in evening worship at Jagdish temple.
