South Africa: Our touch of luxury African adventure
Over the last few years this OTS adventurer Africa trip with a touch of ''Hemingway style'' luxury has become famous, and it books up years in advance. For many of our group, Africa is a ''once in a lifetime'' travel destination, and as such they want to experience it in a little bit of style. Guests have said this was one of the best holiday of their lifetime, and its easy to see why. South Africa has it all, the vistas of Table Mountain and the wild Cape coast, the Wine-lands around Stellenbosch, the expanses of the Karoo, the accessible game viewing of the Zambezi National Park, and all with great roads, superb food and wine, and comfortable luxury accommodation. Our last three nights we get to stay at one of my favourite places in Africa, our exclusive lodge right on the banks of the mighty Zambezi river, OTS has booked out the whole lodge just for our group, which is why this trip has a strict 8 rooms available limit of which only 2 rooms can be single. So if a room of your own is important to you, please book early, or be willing to share for these 3 nights. Adding the very popular "Botswana extension" to this trip will give you an additional 3 nights, 6 safaris, full board in luxury lodges, along with the best chance to see the big cats. Click here for a Video to inspire you. Day 1-6 We have a great few days exploring the Cape region, the wineries of Stellenbosch, and the many dramatic landscapes towards Cape point. Each day we will head off in a different direction using our lovely ''Heritage'' style hotel as our city base. Cape Town is very Gay friendly, and there are a couple of nice evening bars and venues that we can visit, prior to heading north on our ''Out of Africa'' safari. Day 7 Today, after our breakfast, it's time to leave the Cape and head to the airport for our flight Victoria Falls, where we stay in a wonderful hotel, with rooms overlooking a waterhole where animals come to drink. In the afternoon we explore the town and enjoy "High Tea" somewhere really special. Day 8 Big day today, as we visit the magnificent Victoria Falls "The smoke that thunders" with a walking tour followed by time to explore on your own this amazing sight which at this time of year will be in full flood. This afternoon there is time for those that would like to have some free time, take a helicopter flight over the falls, or book a "walk with the elephants". Day 9-11 Today we have a private transfer from Victoria Falls and on to our amazing lodge situated on a private island on the upper Zambezi river. We spend the next 3 days exploring one of Africa's great national wildlife areas. Here we will stay in a wonderful "luxury" tented camp on a ''full board including wine and drinks'' basis, with morning and evening game drives included each day. We search for the ''big five'' and experience the African bush. ''Glamping'' in stylish permanent tents, each with en-suite bathrooms, great food and evenings around the fire under the African sky. Day 12 Its goodbye day for with a transfer to the airport and your onward flight home. (Please book flights from VFA for the afternoon to give us time to transfer you to the airport) or join us on the stunning Botswana extension, the ultimate exclusive animal safari destination. Click on the links below for a full itinerary with accomodation pictures and lots more info. Note this link includes the Botswana Extension! If not joining the extension you will be transferred back to Victoria Falls airport on the last day of the main tour. Main trip + Botswana extension 14 nights 15 days South Africa remains one of my all time favourite destinations. It is unrivalled in its scenic beauty, the game parks are accessible. The people are warm and friendly, and Gay rights are written into the constitution. This adventure combines the great value our trips are known for, but at a higher end, with some great treats, excellent food and delightful accommodation. As with all OTS gay friendly trips you have to let go of the concept you're signing up for a tour, you're not, you're coming on an adventure , yes its a semi structured adventure with all the hard work done but it is nevertheless a adventure, things will go wrong some days, and changes need to be adapted too, you will need your wits about you, and to expect to do some exploring on your own. Andrew made a video (Below) and has said I can share it with you all. "Thanks Andrew" |
