Viva Mexico

Mexico: A 13-Day Cultural & Culinary Journey

Welcome to an unforgettable 13-day adventure that travels from the vibrant pulse of Mexico City to the ancient majesty of Oaxaca, tracing the cultural, historical, and culinary soul of the nation.
This journey balances cultural immersion with authentic local experiences. We begin in Mexico City, exploring its historic center, essential museums, and the pioneering LGBTQ+ history woven into its core.
From there, we journey through the silver city of Taxco to the culinary and architectural gem of Puebla. Finally, we immerse ourselves in Oaxaca, the land of mezcal, ancient Zapotec ruins (Monte Alban), and breathtaking natural landscapes (Hierve Agua), concluding with a celebratory farewell dinner.
This trip offers an exceptional blend of grand monuments and intimate, bohemian neighborhoods, promising a deep connection with Mexico's enduring spirit.

Day 1: Mexico City Arrival
You can arrive anytime today and we will be at the hotel to greet you. Our lovely arrival hotel will be close to the historic Zócalo.
Time to chill and relax, or take a walk as nothing is planned until this evening when we kick off our culinary adventure with an authentic included welcome dinner.

Day 2: City Culture & LGBTQ+ History
Morning immersion into the "Gay City Center," uncovering pre-Columbian gender diversity, colonial-era resistance movements, and the influence of Frida Kahlo’s circle. Afternoon visit to the stunning Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Evening is free time, with an open invitation to join us at a local restaurant.

Day 3: Museums & Parks
Journey through time at the Anthropology Museum to view unparalleled pre-Columbian artifacts. Afternoon ascent to Chapultepec Castle for panoramic city views, followed by a stroll through the park.
This evening is free time, feel free to book a restaurant of your choice (we have lots of suggestions)

Day 5: Frida Kahlo & Xochimilco
Morning exploring the bohemian streets of Coyoacan. Afternoon immersion into the world of Frida Kahlo at her namesake museum.
Late afternoon glide along the vibrant canals of Xochimilco aboard a traditional trajinera.
Evening free time with an open invitation to join us at a local restaurant.

Day 6: Travel to Puebla via Taxco
Bid farewell to Mexico city and journey towards Puebla. Stopping enroute in Taxco, a picturesque silver-mining town, for a stroll and lunch. Arrive in Puebla, check into our lovely centrally located  Hotel, and enjoy the evening.
Evening free time with an open invitation to join us at a local restaurant.

Day 7: Puebla

Day 12: Oaxaca Free Day & Farewell
Enjoy a final free day in Oaxaca to revisit favorite spots or find hidden gems.
We gather in the evening for a memorable included farewell dinner.

Day 13: Departure day
You can depart anytime today, or extend your adventure in wonderful Oaxaca or onto the gay meccas of Puerto Vallarta or Playa Zipolite.

Evening meals together are always a highlight of any OTS trip, sharing stories of the day, and getting to know each other, is what its all about.
We will always have a restaurant booked which you are welcome to join.
Of course you also welcome to opt out and have a chill evening, or book a  special restaurant treat.
Its your holiday!

As with all our trips you must let go of the concept you're signing up for a typical tour, you're not, you're coming on a semi-structured adventure with all the hard work done for you. There will be plenty of opportunities for self-directed exploring using the knowledge and experience of your host Richard. Things will go wrong some days, and changes need to be taken in your stride.
